Episode 1: Breast Cancer and Fasting – The Big JAMA Article

Colin Champ Video Series, ketogenic diet, cancer

In this episode, I discuss the recent article on the interaction of breast cancer and fasting within the context of reducing breast cancer recurrence. This will be the first of hopefully many videos discussing current studies. Let me know what you think!

I have Stage IV breast cancer. I enjoyed your podcast very much and look forward to many more. I fast between 8pm and 12pm most days but I must confess I continue to have milk in my tea and coffee during my fast periods. Do you think this reduces the benefits of the fast to any great extent?

Hi, first off keep up the great work. Secondly, this is all unclear. I do the same with heavy cream in my coffee. This works as kind of a hack and gets the low-carb benefits of fasting (insulin, AMPK, etc.) while still allowing me to enjoy my morning ritual. Does this matter? Not sure. Some AMPK data says low-carb is more important than low-calorie. Hopefully new studies can point us in the right direction.

Please tell me you’re not really eating Denny’s Early Bird Special. Thanks for the rest of the information, but that’s alarming.

Dr. Gordon, I am not sure if I have ever eaten at Denny’s. Poking fun at how early I eat dinner, it was an attempt at humor, though apparently I failed!

Dr. Champ- wish you and Relentless Roger would put the band back together. I understand that there’s a lot more to podcasting then just the actual podcast. Maybe you and RR could do something similar to your video series and you could both just put it on your websites? I hope whatever ‘creative differences’ that have occurred can be mended and RR won’t be stuck making podcasts with Tony Federico in perpetuity.

This is a great idea. I definitely miss the podcast very much. I will float some ideas by Roger. Our schedules are both horrendous…
